Robert was an expert in adventure travel. He had guided rafting trips around the world for over 30 years, doing a dozen of first descents in Chile, Peru, China, and Canada, and exploratory trips in South America, North America, Africa, and Asia. He also led expeditions, including trips in Tibet, quests in the northern ice fields of Patagonia, sea kayaking trips through the Pacific Islands, and ascents to Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa.
Robert appeared in documentaries, publications, articles, and news in media such as ESPN, The New York Times, National Geographic, and Chilean television channels like National Television (TVN) and Mega.
A strong commitment to the environment and a vision of transcendence in his work led him to develop a tourism project in Futaleufú that more than two decades ago seemed unthinkable. The design of a life-changing trip became the cornerstone for protecting the valley, developing the local community, and sharing with others significant life experiences.
Robert shaped the lives of many people and his impact on our world will continue to live on through everyone he inspired. His children carry forward his legacy by remaining engaged in sustainability and crafting outdoor experiences that profoundly impact the lives of those who participate.
Influenced by her father’s passion, Catherine had the privilege of growing up surrounded by nature and adventure. She has done rafting descents in several countries including the United States, Tibet, Ecuador and Chile, which contributed to her love for the outdoors. Catherine completed her studies in Engineering and Business and later pursued postgraduate degree in Organizational Psychology, after which she served for three years as Market Strategist & Planner for Procter & Gamble. Whit over 10 years of experience guiding trekking trips in Patagonia and motivated by the desire to share with others the beauty of her country, she became our company’s CEO during four years. She now participates actively in Path Patagonia, making sure that our commitment whit our guests and the environment transcends. Catherine lives in Santiago with her husband and two sons.
From an early age, Robert shared his father’s passion for the outdoors, learning to guide multisport expeditions. Together, they embarked on adventures across Patagonia, the Northern Ice Fields, Ecuador, Canada, Tibet, and the United States.
This deep connection with nature sparked Robert’s interest in environmental protection and sustainable development. He pursued a law degree in Chile and later earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Columbia University in New York. Upon returning to Chile, he founded an organization dedicated to protecting the Futaleufú River Watershed.
Robert experience includes serving as an advisor within the United Nations system in New York, as a legal fellow at the International Union for Conservation of Nature in Germany, and as Head of the Legislative and Regulatory Department at Chile’s Ministry of Environment, where he led the drafting of the country’s landmark Framework Law on Climate Change.
Today, Robert heads the environmental division of a consulting firm in Santiago and leads some of our trips.
Jeff was raised in small town Pennsylvania but fell in love with South America during a college semester in Quito, Ecuador. The Andes have been calling him back ever since. Working in the energy, hotel, and philanthropic sectors, he spent much of the next 20 years in Latin America, getting to know many of its natural attractions while there on business. A sporting generalist, he has come to love whitewater rafting and hiking, especially in Patagonia! Jeff was a client of Path Patagonia in 2013 and left so inspired that he later bought a boutique travel agency that designs trips for clients only in the Andean region. He is thrilled to be part of the Path team now too!
Know by everybody as “Piri”, he was born and raised in Futaleufú. Here, after finishing his studies as a Tourism Technician, decided to specialize in what he likes the most: guide and accompany people though the waves of the Futaleufú River. Additionally, being an expert on the area, he is the right person to share with you different aspects of the valley, such as history, flora and fauna, etc.
Ricardo has traveled and worked though Peru, Costa Rica and Italy. He’s specialty is Rafting, Cataraft and Kayak guiding. He lives in Futaleufú with his wife and two children.
Nelson has over 35 years of mountain experience, he has achieved important sports milestones such as being part of the first Chilean expedition to Mount Everest; Participate in the first ascending of the north wall of the Marmolejo with 6,108 meters oh altitude; the first Chilean expedition to Aconcagua Mount through The Polacos Route. He also completed the travesty of the Andes Mountain during the winter, making the Chilean – Argentinian crossing.
Through his trajectory he has worked as a mountain guide and instructor, with vast experience as Rescuer of the Chilean Corp of Andean Aid, and Chilean Sky Patrol.
He has participated in prominent expeditions in Central Andes, Patagonia Andes, Peruvian Andes, Bolivian Andes, and Himalayas. He is certified in Remote Areas Fist Aids, Wilderness First Responder.
Additionally, he teaches in San Sebastián University at the Expeditions and Ecotourism career.
Besides climbing mountains, he is passionate about the submarine world. He has been practicing diving for over 25 years. He is passioned about life, he loves work team and the creation of learnings opportunities, always promoting respect and love for the environment.
Pedro “Pelluca” is originally from Futaleufú and started to work as a guide at the age of 21 years old. Being a nature lover and knowing the rives of the area of Futaleufu, working in adventure travel became his inevitable fate. He became a rafting guide, rowing at the beginning safety boats, to then start guiding passenger boats. He is also a trekking guide an expert with the use of ropes for different activities (climbing, rappel, zip-line and tyrolean). He has completed courses of rope management, first aids, river rescue, and mountaineering, which support his eighteen years of experience. He lives in Las Escalas area, near Futaleufu Town.
